Celebrating the start of the Turtle nesting season The Coral Coast Turtle Festival in November offers a weekend carnival of shows, markets and parades throughout the Coral Coast and, of course, marks the official start to the turtle nesting season. A visit to the Mon Repos turtle rookery is a must during the summer months.

Coonar Beach and Kinkuna National Parks include a natural wilderness of banksia growth. Four wheel driving is necessary in some areas here.

Elliot Heads is Queensland's friendliest beach. Coral Cove and Innes Park boast some of the region's best inshore dive sites.

Bargara Beach, which includes Kelly's Beach and Neilson's Park, is the region's most developed seaside centre.

Burnett Heads heralds the entrance of the river to the sea. Port Bundaberg includes a marina and reef departure jetty. Moore Park boasts 14 kilometres of golden sand and nature walks.
